Our curriculum is skills based, which ensures progression in expertise as children move up the school. In addition we believe that our role is to develop children’s creative abilities and talents (art. 29 UNICEF Charter) so our aim is that when our children leave Year 6, they are confident to experiment, explore and develop personal ideas in a creative context. We champion a love of art and design by introducing children to a range of artists, designers and craftspeople both historic and contemporary and from a variety of cultures. We aim for our children to have an appreciation of art and be able to make connections between their own work and the work of others.
In June 2019, we were awarded an Artsmark Silver Award. We were praised for the development of our skills based curriculum, our use of sketchbooks and our annual art weeks.
